Jim Barach's Forecast Discussion

A strong cold front moved through the region on Wednesday bringing showers and storms. The cold air moving in behind the front made for much cooler temperatures on Thursday along with rain showers that will change over to snowflakes late. Snow showers will last into Friday morning that will make for a dusting of snowfall on grassy surfaces. Milder conditions will return in time for the weekend.

Tonight, skies will be cloudy with rain showers that will change to snowflakes after midnight. The overnight low temperature will be 36 degrees. A dusting of snow will fall on grassy surfaces but roads should remain clear as they will be too warm and will melt any snowflakes on contact. Mountain areas will see an accumulation. Friday will start out with lingering snow showers that will change back to rain showers by the late morning. The high temperature will be 44 degrees and it will be windy through the day.

The weekend will start out with partly cloudy skies as high pressure moves back into the region on Saturday. The high temperature will make it to 60 degrees. Sunday will be partly cloudy and dry under high pressure with a high temperature of 72 degrees.

Monday will see a warm front move through the region which will make for partly cloudy skies along with dry conditions. The high temperature will make it all the way to 80 degrees. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with rain showers as the trailing cold front moves into the region. The high temperature will drop to 73 degrees with the additional clouds and showers. Wednesday will be partly cloudy and dry as high pressure moves back into the region. The high temperature will drop to 70 degrees as cool air continues to move into the region behind the departing cold front. Thursday will be partly cloudy and dry as high pressure builds back in over the region. The high temperature will warm slightly to 72 degrees. Friday will be partly cloudy and dry with a high temperature of 78 degrees.

The next weekend will start out with partly cloudy skies along with dry conditions ahead of the next approaching cold front. The high temperature will make it to 79 degrees in the warmer air ahead of the front. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with rain showers as the front moves in. The high temperature will drop a bit to 74 degrees with the additional clouds and showers.
