Jim Barach's Forecast Discussion

A very unusually warm weather pattern has set up over the region which will take us through the end of the work week. Temperatures will stay above normal through the weekend and into at least the beginning of next week for the start of March.

Tonight, skies will be clear and the overnight low will still stay at a mild 46 degrees. Keep in mind the normal high temperature this time of year in Charleston is 48 degrees. Tuesday will be partly cloudy and dry as a warm front moves through the region. The high temperature will be a very mild 71 degrees. Wednesday will see the trailing cold front move into the region for mostly cloudy skies along with a chance of rain showers. Most areas will pick up between a tenth to a quarter inch with the high temperature dropping slightly to 68 degrees. Thursday will be partly cloudy and dry as high pressure makes its way back in over the region. The high temperature will be a mild 70 degrees. Friday will be partly cloudy and dry ahead of an approaching cold front. The high temperature will soar all the way to 76 degrees. If that verifies, it would tie a record high temperature for the date.

The weekend will start out with mostly cloudy skies along with scattered showers as the cold front moves through the region on Saturday. The high temperature will drop to 56 degrees with the clouds, showers and cooler air moving in behind the front. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and dry. The high temperature will drop a bit to 53 degrees.

Monday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers as another cold front moves through the region. The high temperature will make it to 55 degrees. Tuesday will be partly cloudy and dry behind the front. The high temperature will actually rise to 58 degrees as the air behind the front will be on the mild side. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers as a low pressure system moves in over the region. The high temperature will make it to 63 degrees in the warm ahead of the low. Thursday will be mostly cloudy and dry with the high temperature warming slightly to 65 degrees.
