Knives On The Cutting Edge
EYEWITNESS ONLINE WEBCAST VIDEO
After retiring in 2001, Larry Withrow of Kanawha County was looking for something to do with his time. A friend introduced him to knife making, and the rest is history. Withrow now creates beautiful hand crafted knives and specializes in Damascus and sanmi style blades..the Japanese word for layered steel. Larry says what separates his work from others is the heat treatment, high quality steel, quality handles, and his own craftsmanship and attention to detail. The patterns in the layers of steel are revealed as Withrow presses, shapes, grinds, etches, and buffs his blades to perfection, but according to Larry, what really sells a knife is a beautiful handle made from a nice piece of wood. Withrow's handles are made from the finest woods from all over the world, which perfectly accent his unique blades.
