![]() Organ Cave A Large Cave With A Huge History
Located in beautiful southeastern West Virginia, Organ Cave is full of wonder, science, and history. Offering natural wonders such as bats and rock formations, it's also known as Confederate General Robert E. Lee's underground ammo factory. The limestone rock that makes up a large part of the cave contains saltpeter, a main component of gunpowder, and the confederates mined it for 3 years during the Civil War. The cave also contains the largest collection of Civil War hoppers left in the United States, as it housed 1,100 soldiers and was used as a church, and a place of refuge.
There are gentle walking tours and extreme exploring adventures available for guests as well. There's a lot to see and experience at the second longest cave on the East coast, don't miss this great Greenbrier County underground adventure! FOR MORE INFORMATION
