Lorna Vincent Venter knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist. After working in several mediums in college, she quickly realized that sculpture was her passion. Eventually Lorna's work was being commissioned and purchased by private collectors and museums around the country. Now Lorna and her husband Sarel live and work in the the old West Side Elementary school building in Grafton West Virginia that provides a perfect environment for her creativity. Besides sculpting busts and full figures, Lorna creates large, high relief wall murals depicting the maternal nature of wildlife. There doesn't seem to be anything she can't create in clay, bronze, or more recently porcelain. According to Lorna: "My inspiration comes from many sources, some of my favorites being: Children, nature, animals and the human form. Some favorite artists of mine are: Auguste Rodin, Gustav Klimt, and of course Michelangelo!"
