WVU/Virginia Tech set new date for "Black Diamond Trophy" renewal

The rekindling of an old rivalry now has a new spot in prime time.

West Virginia University and Virginia Tech football teams announced a Sunday, Sept. 3 game set for 7:30 p.m. for the first "Black Diamond Trophy" battle in 12 years. The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

The schools announced the time change in Friday news releases.

The Mountaineers and Hokies will square off at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. The game had originally been scheduled for Sept. 2.

Virginia Tech has won the last two games in the series, which were played in 2004 and 2005.

Tickets in WVU's allotment start at $65 for upper-level tickets. Lower-level sideline seats are available for $140, the school said in a release.
