West Virginia boys basketball tournament this week in Charleston

With the best girls basketball teams in West Virginia crowned, now it’s time to see which boys teams will hoist championship trophies.

The WVSSAC 2018 Boys Basketball State Tournament gets under way Wednesday, March 14, and runs through Saturday, March 17, at the Charleston Civic Center.

Quarterfinals are Wednesday, semifinals are Thursday and Friday and the finals are Saturday, according to the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission's website.

Three divisions will be competing – Class A, Class AA and Class AAA.

Several local teams will be vying for a title. In Class AA, No. 6 Winfield will battle No. 3 Westside at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. No. 2 Chapmanville Regional faces No. 7 Bridgeport at 1 p.m. Wednesday, also a Class AA game.

In Class A, No. 2 Ravenswood will battle No. 7 Webster County at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Meanwhile, in Class AAA, No. 3 George Washington squares off against No. 6 Huntington at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
