Game 6: Jarrod West leads Notre Dame past Gilmer County

In the final game of the first day of the West Virginia boy’s state basketball tournament, Notre Dame cruised to victory over Gilmer County.

No. 4 Notre Dame shot 50 percent from the floor in a 66-45 win over No. 5 Gilmer County to move on the Class A semifinals.

Jarrod West, Marshall University commit and son of WVU great Jarrod West, led the way for the Fighting Irish. West nearly recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

Jared Fagan also hit double-figures scoring 14 for the Irish.

Notre Dame held Gilmer County to just 26.7 percent shooting and outscored the Titans 32-12 in the paint.

Carter Springer led the Titans in scoring with 15 points and Trey Shuff finished the game with 10.

Notre Dame will take on No. 1 Wheeling Central (24-2) in a Class AA semifinal Friday at 1 p.m.
