UC Baseball: Golden Eagles get record 30th win; now off to MEC Tournament

UC garnered a school record 30th win of the season on Monday by defeating WV State in Game 1 of a doubleheader. UC is bound for the MEC Tournament later this week.

A 9-2 win over West Virginia State gave the University of Charleston a record 30th win of the season on Monday.

It's a season that will continue later this week in Beckley.

The Golden Eagles will be a part of the six-team Mountain East Conference Tournament.

Though the Golden Eagles lost the second game of the DH, hopes are high for an MEC title as Andrew Wright's crew will take a 30-10 record to the southern part of the state.

Shepherd, West Liberty and Fairmont State will represent the North Division in the MEC event, to be staged at beautiful Epling Stadium in Beckley.

Besides UC, other South Division representatives are Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan.

Charleston will begin play Thursday against Shepherd, the North champ, at 11 a.m. Concord, the South champion, meets Fairmont State at 3 p.m. West Liberty and Wesleyan will square off in the evening at 7 p.m.

The tournament is double elimination.
