Mt. East Conference: Crutchfield leaving West Liberty for Florida

The Mountain East Conference's loss, and more specifically West Liberty, is the state of Florida's gain.

Jim Crutchfield, who has won 359 games as the Hilltpppers head coach to only 61 losses, is leaving Hilltopper basketball, one he guided to the NCAA Division II national championship game in 2014, for Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Nova Southeastern also competes in the NCAA Division II.

Cruchfield earned D-II Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2013.

In 13 seasons, he led the Hilltoppers to the D-II Elite Eight semifinals four times.

A native of Clarksburg, Crutchfield was a four-time winner of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year Award and was picked a combined seven times as Coach of the Year in the old West Virginia Conference and Mountain East Conference.
