Mountain East Conference: UC and State men lose, women's teams pick up wins
Thursday evening marked the next-to-last round of games in the Mountain East Conference before the league tournament comes to Charleston.
There will be 10 of the 12 teams heading to the Capital City for the action, which will begin on Wednesday.
With its hopes of tournament play dashed, West Virginia State headed into its next-to-last game playing for pride. But once more the Yellow Jackets couldn't rid themselves of a losing streak that has now reached nine straight.
UVA-Wise topped the Jackets on Thursday, 91-75, in a game against the league's bottom two teams.
Elsewhere Concord topped UC, Fairmont beat Glenville, Shepherd downed Wesleyan, Wheeling Jesuit was a winner over Notre Dame and West Liberty defeated Urbana.
UC and State will meet on Saturday.
In women's play, UC downed Concord and State nipped UVA-Wise. Glenville defeated Fairmont St, Notre Dame handed Wheeling Jesuit a setback, Shepherd topped Wesleyan and West Liberty gained a win over Urbana.
