Mountain East Conference: State men fall while UC advances; Bolte scores 51

CHARLESTON W.Va., (WCHS/WVAH) - The West Virginia State men fell to one of the NCAA Division II's top programs, West Liberty, 133-106.

The University of Charleston men held their own against Shepherd, winning 74-65.

UC and West Liberty meet, Saturday, at 6 p.m. in the semi-final round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament.

The MEC's player of the year, Heyward Highsmith led the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinal's to a win over UVA-Wise, 72-58.

The conference's top scorer, Tommy Bolte dropped 51 points in Concord's shcoking, 89-84, win over Fairmont State.

The Mountain Lions and Cardinals meet, Saturday at 8:15 p.m., in the other half of the semis.
