Meigs, Point Pleasant students named St. Mary's Scholar Athletes of the Week

St. Mary's Medical Center Scholar Athletes of the Week (WCHS/WVAH)

During halftime of our Wendy’s Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week presented by the Marshall Sports Medicine Institute between Meigs and Point Pleasant, one student from each school will be honored for their excellence in athletics as well as in the classroom.

Zach Helton was named the St. Mary’s Medical Center Scholar Athlete of the Week for the Meigs Marauders.

The senior is a three sport athlete. He plays quarterback, baseball and basketball. In the first game of this football season, the quarterback broke his collarbone and was told he would not play again this season, but he has already returned to the field.

Helton currently has a 3.96 grade point average and wants to major in engineering when he goes to college.

Luke Wilson was named the St. Mary’s Medical Center Scholar Athlete of the Week for Point Pleasant.

Wilson runs track and cross country and has won three cross country races for the Big Blacks.

He is currently taking multiple honors and AP classes and wants to go into exercise science or physical therapy.

Neither student-athlete has picked a college.
