George Washington, Riverside students named St. Mary's Scholar Athletes of the Week
BELLE, WV (WCHS/WVAH) —
During halftime of our Wendy’s Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week presented by the Marshall Sports Medicine Institute between George Washington and Riverside, one student-athlete from each school will be honored for their excellence in athletics as well as in the classroom.
Noah Shaak was named the St. Mary’s Medical Center Scholar Athlete of the Week for the George Washington Patriots.
The senior is a winger for the Patriots’ soccer team. The Patriots won a state championship in 2016 and are looking to repeat in 2017.
Shaak’s currently has a 4.48 grade point average and is trying to get a head start on college by taking college classes while still in high school.
He has not selected a college yet, but has narrowed his options down to Clemson, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio). He plans to major in business.
Jacob Clark was named the St. Mary’s Medical Center Scholar Athlete of the Week for the Riverside Warriors.
Clark is a senior at Riverside and plays basketball and football.
Clark has a cumulative 4.6 grade point average, but this semester has a 5.0. He said he plans to go into dentistry.
He said he hopes to play basketball in college, but if that is not in the cards, Clark hopes to attend West Virginia University.
