The woods are full of hunters and even more deer. While many are looking to harvest a nice buck, there's a chance to make a real difference in someone's life by giving back through the Hunters Helping the Hungry program. Scott Warner is a biologist with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, he explains the program.

"It's been around 22 years and each year thousands of deer are being donated to the program. In fact, over the last 22 years, over 30 thousand deer have been donated providing millions of meals to West Virginia needy. We have cooperators state wide in the program, it's a really simple program. We're encouraging hunters to take advantage, fill your freezer first then donate."

And the deer you donate will help fill someone else's freezer.
And guys like Andy Nelson do a lot to make this happen. He owns and operates Nelson Meat Processing in Milton.

"It gives them the opportunity to eat something they wouldn't get to eat. It works out well. Last year, processed 400 deer for them and that's a lot of meat they wouldn't have had if the program wasn't there." says Nelson.

Andy's been working with Hunters Helping the Hungry for 13 years, why not make this year your first if you haven't donated a deer before, and if you have, thanks, and we'll take another.
