Every January, fifteen thousand folks file through the doors of the Charleston Civic Center for the West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show.

Glenn Jarrel, with the West Virginia Trophy Hunters Association, gives the basics. "This is our 27th show presenting the West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show at the Charleston Civic Center this weekend. It will start Friday at noon and run through Sunday at 5. Admission is $8 for adults, $1 for kids 6-12, and kids under 6 get in free."

This is definitely one of the best entertainment buys of the year, and speaking of buys, you can find just about anything you want, from hand made knives to custom hunts and fishing trips.

"We'll have over two hundred vendors from all over the United States, Canada, and South Africa. There will be anything you want for any outdoor enthusiast. You can book hunting trips, fishing trips, there will be apparel of all kinds, lots of pink stuff for ladies this year. Anything for outdoor lovers." says Jarrel.

And as usual, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will be there in a big way. You can bring the kids for a round at the hunting simulator, that's always a big hit. And speaking of big!

"The Whitetail Hall of Fame will be there again this year. We could have over 150 mounts harvested by rifle and archery. The DNR will have a strong presence, they will be doing scoring of whitetail trophies all three days. Biologists will be there to answer any questions about game management." says Jarrel.

Don't forget about the silent auction and the good time you'll have just hanging out with people just like you and me. If you get a chance, pull me aside and say hi..I'd love to chat with you.
