Mark Daily/Huntingon says:
"It's family time, it's enjoyment for her and me both."

Every week mark daily and his 16 year old daughter heather grab their bows and head to a hidden, non descript old textile mill in guyandotte. Inside is a whole nother world. This is the huntington archery club and it's been around since ike was president.

Eric Lingenfeller/Huntington Archery Club says:
"The archery club's been in existence since about 1957. We have both an indoor range and an outdoor range in Ona, WV. We offer our members the option of shooting year round if they want. We have leagues indoors in the winter and in the summer we open the outdoor range."

Year round shooting is important to these archers-they're awesome. They compete in leagues and go to matches around the area. It's also important to folks who just want to keep an edge so that when bow season comes around, they're ready.

Ligenfeller has seen a lot over the years. He's learned a lot, too. Now he teaches the importance of programs like the dnr's archery in the school. The future of archery is literally in the hands of our kids.

Eric Lingenfeller says:
"We've had some really good years and some really bad years. The key is to getting new people involved and interested in the sport. The big factor, the big key, is getting kids involved. The majority of our members are older, so we're trying hard to get some of our teenagers involved."

Mark's doing his part. This weekly tradition with heather is something that started with his oldest daughter and just kinda stuck.

Mark Daily says:
"All three of my girls shot. One went to softball, she took archery and the other went to school. At least I have one that turned out to be an archer-she's sticking with it."

That's good news for the sport.
