W.Va. man gets life in girlfriend's murder July 02, 2009 6:55 PM
CHARLESTON, W.Va.
A man convicted of killing his girlfriend at a Taco Bell in Charleston has been sentenced to life in prison.
Desmond Clark pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in Kanawha County Circuit Court in March in the July 2008 shooting of 19-year-old Nalisha Gravely.
Clark will be ineligible for parole because Judge James Stucky's sentence Thursday came with no recommendation of mercy.
The case provoked outcry over how the state handles domestic violence cases. At the time, Clark was subject to a protective order requiring that he have no contact with Gravely.
