Last Update June 10, 2008 8:20 AM Griffey hits No. 600 against Marlins MIAMI The Cincinnati Reds' Ken Griffey Junior says all he wanted was to be like his father, who hit 152 home runs. The younger Griffey has gone way beyond his dad and last night hit his 600th career homer, joining Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sammy Sosa as the only players to reach that milestone. Griffey connected off Mark Hendrickson in the first inning of the Reds' 9-4 victory over the Florida Marlins in Miami. The 38-year-old slugger hit a 3-1 pitch 413 feet into the right-field seats with Jerry Hairston on third and one out. Griffey wasn't surprised Number 600 happened away from Cincinnati. His 400th and 500th home runs were the road, too. |
