Geno Smith is about set for his first NFL training camp.
But before that, he made a visit to the Mountain State for a meet and greet with fans at the Nitro Market Place. Smith feels he has a chance to start with the New York Jets. He's excited about plenty, including his new number.
On the tennis courts, James Kent became the all-time winner for men's open titles at the Public Courts Tennis Tournament with a win in three sets over Patrick Walker. Kent now has eight crowns.
West Virginia State player Andrea Slusarciuc claimed her first women's open championship.
It was another title for Cross Lanes in the Kanwaha Valley Swimming Championships. That makes 26 straight for that area's swim club.
And, the West Virginia Power and Kannapolis Intimidators dodged rain drops early on before play got going.The Power came away with a 5-1 win.
