His name is Daniel Ruettinger.
But you probably know him best simply as, "Rudy."
The man who is the inspiration behind the blockbuster film of the same name was at the Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston Thursday night.
Ruettinger along with former Marshall assistant football coach Red Dawson were the guest speakers at a social event for the Marshall University Quarterback Club of Charleston.
Ruettinger was a famed walk-on at Notre Dame and finally played for 27 seconds in a game and collected a tackle. He is one of the country's most sought after motivational speakers.
Dawson was a member of the 1970 Marshall football team that was lost in a plane crash. Dawson left after the East Carolina game to visit recruits and wasn't on the plane. Matthew Fox portrayed Dawson in the "We Are...Marshall" movie. Dawson made appearances in the movie as an opposing coach.
Also on Thursday, WVU running backs coach JuJuan Seider was at Harding's Restaurant.
