N-S Classic: North-South Check In Day; Power Lose Rubber Game To Hagerstown

(Charleston, WV, June 9, 2013): The West Virginia Power dropped the series finale 4-1 to the Hagerstown Suns Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. Hagerstown scored four runs in the sixth inning to win the series two games to one.
Hagerstown took a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning. The Suns sent ten batters to the plate in the inning, where only two had a base hit. West Virginia’s defense committed two errors in the inning.
The Power scored their only run in the sixth inning. Walker Gourley hit his third home run of the season to left to make it a 4-1 game. It was West Virginia’s only extra-base hit.
Tyler Glasnow pitched four and two-thirds innings and allowed three hits while striking out eighth. Jhondaniel Medina (0-1) took the loss by allowing four runs (one earned) in relief. Ivan Pineyro (5-3) received the win for Hagerstown.
West Virginia will travel to Delmarva for a three-game series beginning Monday night. After the series with the Shorebirds, the Power travel to Greensboro for a four-game series against the Grasshoppers. West Virginia returns home after the all-star break Thursday, June 20th against the Lakewood BlueClaws.
