Since 2005, Charleston Catholic and Wheeling Central have met five times for the Class A state championship.
Friday night at the Catholic Complex, the two rivals squared off in a regular season game as the calendar flipped to February.
It was one of the few played in West Virgina on frigid night. The Fighting Irish topped Central, 62-42, to help strengthen their No. 1 status in the latest AP poll.
