New York, as one would expect, appears to be a winter wonderland at this time of year.
Which caused problems for the WVU football team in its first workout in the Big Apple for Saturday's New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
WVU was slated for its first of two practices at Fordham University yesterday, but it was called and moved indoors at the team hotel due to inclement weather.
Syracuse, WVU's opponent on Saturday, did have its scheduled workout at Columbia University.
The two old rivals square off Saturday at 3:15 inside Yankee Stadium.
WVU will be without senior center Joe Madsen. Academics have cost the Mountaineer standout the second bowl game of his career. He also was ruled academically ineligible for the Champs Sports Bowl in 2010. Had he played in both bowl games Madsen would have tied Dan Mozes for the most games at center with 52.
Sadly, Saturday's game would have been the finale of Madsen's career.
