It's a soccer extravaganza unlike any other, and it's happening in the Mountain State. Over the course of six days close to 5,000 soccer players will be competing on 22 fields in Huntington and Barboursville. The area is hosting the 2009 U.S. Youth Soccer Association Region 1 (East) Championships.
Players competing range in ages 12 to 19. Besides West Virginia, states represented include Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey.
