PASSION FOR HUNTING
THIS TIME OF YEAR, MANY OF US ARE GETTING BUCK FEVER-WE CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT AND SCOUT DEER AND MAKE PLANS FOR HUNTING SEASON. PATRICK MCMURTRY INTRODUCES US TO ONE FAMILY WHO MAKES THIS A LIFETIME COMMITTMENT.

That realization turned into a family passion for hunting. That worked out perfectly for Sean who hated to leave his family behind when he went on some nice hunts.

1:00"She bought them all bows and started practicing and they've been on squirrel hunts, gator hunts. 3:54One of the concerns for me is on my big game hunts I'd be away from my family for a significant amount of time, (butt to4:03)Part of this is taking the family with me, I don't get homesick, they're right there with me and it doesn't matter where we are on the globe, I keep an eye on them, I don't have to worry where they are when I'm away."

For that to work, you have to have a family which enjoys taking the time and making the committment to go on hunts like that. The Sette's are that family, even Katelyn, a teenage girl you might not expect to enjoy getting her hands dirty.

When you hunt, there's plenty of that...fresh air. If you want to get your kids into hunting, you're first chance is the 7th when squirrel season opens. For WVWL, PM EWN

G20 SYRIA THURS
PRESIDENT OBAMA ARRIVES IN RUSSIA THIS THIS MORNING AS THE TENSIONS OVER SYRIA REACH A FEVER PITCH.

THE PRESIDENT IS JUGGLING INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC REACTIONS TO HIS MILITARY PLANS FOR SYRIA.

TODAY HE WILL COME FACE TO FACE WITH RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN... WHILE MONITORING LAWMAKER VOTES BACK HOME.

ABC'S TAHMAN BRADLEY HAS THE LATEST FROM WASHINGTON.

    economic summit.

Syria is not officially on the agenda, but it is expected to dominate

    discussions.

Mr. Obama accuses the Syrian regime of using chemical weapons against its

own people, and is urging a strong international response.

    SOT Obama

"MY CREDIBILITY'S NOT ON THE LINE. THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY'S CREDIBILITY

    IS ON THE LINE."

The crisis in Syria has President Obama facing off against Russian President

    Vladimir Putin.

Putin, who backs the Assad regime, says the U.S. is lying about Syria's use

    of chemical weapons.

And in a rare interview with western media, Putin warned Mr. Obama not to

take military action in Syria without U-N authorization.

    NATS - Putin (in Russian)

"Only the UN Security Council could sanction the use of force against a

    sovereign state," said Putin.

Although Presidents Obama and Putin have no plans for a formal meeting, it's

likely they'll exchange a few words.

    SOT Obama

"I'M ALWAYS HOPEFUL AND I WILL CONTINUE TO ENGAGE HIM BECAUSE I THINK THAT

INTERNATIONAL ACTION WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE."

Back in Washington, a small but significant victory for Mr. Obama.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed a resolution that would give

the President the authority to strike Syria.

But it's not clear the measure can pass the full Senate or House.

"I SEE A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY. BUT I DON'T SEE THAT OUR INVOLVEMENT WILL LESSEN

    THE TRAGEDY."

The full Congress could vote on military action against Syria next week.

President Putin says it's too early to talk about what Russia will do if the

    U.S. strikes Syria.

    Tahman Bradley, ABC News, Washington.

DON'T YELL AT TEENS
PARENTING A TEENAGER CAN BE CHALLENGING ESPECIALLY WHEN DEALING WITH DISAGREEMENTS... BUT NEW RESEARCH SHOWS THAT BLOWING UP AT YOUR KIDS ISN'T THE ANSWER.

IN THIS HEALTH MINUTE... HOLLY FIRFER SHOWS SOME WAYS TO AVOID THOSE SITUATIONS..

This study showed when parents frequently yell at or humiliate their kids it's harmful to them

RESEARCHERS FOUND THAT WHEN PARENTS DISCIPLINED THEIR TEENAGERS BY YELLING, SWEARING AT, OR HUMILIATING THEM, TWO OR MORE TIMES A WEEK, THE TEENS WERE MORE LIKELY TO ACT UP IN SCHOOL, LIE TO PARENTS, STEAL, FIGHT OR SHOW SIGNS OF DEPRESSION. THE STUDY LOOKED AT ALMOST 1000 TWO-PARENT FAMILIES.

PARENTS USUALLY YELL BECAUSE THEY TAKE THEIR CHILD'S BEHAVIOR PERSONALLY OR THEY FEEL OUT OF CONTROL. LET'S FACE IT PARENTING A TEEN IS NOT ALWAYS EASY.

you're going to be upset. that's just part of the job description. so what i think it's important for parents to know is

You have to self soothe, you have to step away, get control of your own emotions. then decide what am i trying to do? do i need to discipline, to teach, or do I need to just have a conversation with them.

FOR TODAY'S HEALTH MINUTE, I'M HOLLY FIRFER.

TIME IS MONEY RIGHT? THIS STUDY FOUND THAT SHELLING OUT MORE MONEY - AND MORE TIME -- FOR A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE DEGREE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN YOU'LL LAND A JOB WITH A BETTER SALARY.

    VO

THE STUDY, FROM "COLLEGE MEASURES DOT ORG" FOUND THAT GRADUATES OF SOME TWO-YEAR DEGREE PROGRAMS - LIKE ASSOCIATES AND OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS - OFTEN EARN JUST AS MUCH - IF NOT MORE -- AS WORKERS WITH FOUR-YEAR DEGREES.

RESEARCHERS ANALYZED THE EARNINGS OF RECENT GRADS FROM ARKANSAS, COLORADO, TENNESSEE, TEXAS AND VIRGINIA.

AND HERE'S A GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT - IN TEXAS: PEOPLE WITH TECHNICAL ASSOCIATES DEGREES EARNED A MEDIAN ANNUAL SALARY OF JUST OVER $50 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN THEIR FIRST YEAR AFTER GRADUATION. THAT'S 11-THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE ON AVERAGE THAN THOSE WITH FULL BACHELOR DEGREES.

    SUNLEN ON CAMERA

BUT DON'T GO QUIT YOUR FOUR-YEAR PROGRAM YET.

EXPERTS SUGGEST TAKING THE LONG VIEW: THE RESEARCH SHOWED THAT COLLEGE GRADUATES OF FOUR YEAR PROGRAMS OUT-EARNED ASSOCIATE DEGREE HOLDERS OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR CAREER. IT JUST TAKES SOME TIME TO GET PAST THAT FIRST YEAR.

BUT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN IS IMPORTANT TOO. … THAT FOUR YEAR COLLEGES TYPICALLY COME WITH A HEFTIER PRICE TAG, RIGHT?
