10 BULLYING SWEEPS
CAUSING HER EMOTIONAL PAIN THAT SHE'S STILL WORKING TO OVERCOME....
"Not physically like they weren't beating me up or anything but it was just like mentally and they were saying words and just everyhting. Emotionally. So I ended up making a brick wall around myself so that way I wasn't around anyone for a long time."
HER STORY LIKE SO MANY OTHERS HER AGE, BUT IT'S AN INSPIRIATION FOR THIS WOMAN - JENNIFER WOTRING ....
"Let's think about that in terms of your self-esteem."
WOTRING IS ON A MISSION TO EMPOWER YOUNG GIRLS...
GIRLS LIKE 13-YEAR-OLD SAMEEYA (SAMIA) KING - .... ALSO A VICTIM OF BULLYING ... WHEN SHE WAS IN GRADE SCHOOL, SHE DEVELOPED A RARE DISEASE, CAUSING HER TO LOSE HER HAIR...
WOTRING RECENTLY BROUGHT THE WINGS PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH A WAL-MART STATE GIVING GRANT TO THE DIGISO STUDIOS IN CHARLESTON. FOR TWO DAYS SHE BROUGHT IN 7TH AND 8TH GRADE GIRLS - KNOWING THE INTENSE NEED TO INSPIRE AND NUTURE THEM ..

AND THE DANGERS OF BULLYING....
"Is bullying always physical?"
LESSON AFTER LESSON - MESSAGE AFTER MESSAGE - AT FIRST GIRLS LOOK DISINTERESTED - BUT THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THEY OPEN UP - THEY ENGAGE, AND THEY SHARE THEIR STORIES ABOUT HOW HARD IT CAN BE JUST TO GO TO SCHOOL...

"I know that I don't have high self-esteem at all from being bullied."
"On a daily basis I kind of like get annoyed by it and I try to not pay attention to it but on the inside it really does hurt whenever people say stuff but I just try to say oh yeah, sure, okay, whatever."
IT'S INFORMAITON LIKE THAT - THAT THE WINGS PROGRAM USES TO GET THESE GIRLS ATTENTION...
"You can see that it makes a difference. They want to be here. They want to come back. They want to do another day. So that's what we're hoping that through addtional funding we can make this an ongoing process."
"If I never see these girls again. I want them to be more sensitive to others who have experienced bullying. I want them to have tools in their toolkit for dealing with it."
CONVERSATIONS THAT NEED TO BE HAPPENING WITH YOUR KIDS....
"Do you think what you see in the mirror is exactly how others see you? "No."
AND GIVING THESE GIRLS THE INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE THEY NEED TO BE BETTER ROLE MODELS ... FRIENDS...AND LEADERS....
"They left feeling that they had a group to talk to. They have each other to talk to. They're not alone when they are feeling all of these pressures."
A FEELING FOR TAYLOR BERRY SHE HOPES TO PASS ON TO OTHERS IN HER SHOES....
"I don't want people to give up and to think that they're not anything like I did. I still do, sort of, but it's not near as bad as it's been before."
