Grandma's Easy Cinnamon Rolls From LeeAnn Miller You saw it Wednesday, February 8, 2006 4 cups warm water 1/2 cup white sugar 4 Tablespoons instant yeast Stir together with wire whisk. Let stand until bubbly. Add: 1/4 cup margarine or butter (melted and slightly cool) 1 egg 2 teaspoons salt Stir again with wire whisk or mixer. Mix well.
6 cups donut mix plus 6 to 6-1/2 cups bread flour (like Robin Hood All-Purpose) Mix together and knead well. Place in greased bowl. Let rise until double in size. Roll out dough. Spread on soft butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. We have never measured how much of each of these, just a nice layer of all three. Roll up tightly as you would a jelly roll. Cut into 3/4-1 inch slices. Place on greased cookie sheet 1/2 inch apart. Let rise again about 45 minutes (almost double). Bake at 350 degrees until light brown (approx. 30 minutes). Brown Sugar Icing 2 sticks of Butter (1/2 lb.) 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup evaporated milk 1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring (optional) Bring first three ingredients to a simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add maple flavoring. Slowly add 6 cups sifted powdered sugar or until Icing is the consistency you prefer. Happy Baking!
