Kennie Bass Hello, and thanks for stopping by.

I've been working as a broadcaster here in my home state of West Virginia since 1978. I started doing football halftime and end-of-game reports for WKAZ-AM, and eventually moved into the host role on a weekly public affairs program "Wildcat Corner."

After taking DJ gigs at Charleston stations WXIT-AM and WJYP-FM, I started college at WVU in the fall of 1981. Following a semester in Morgantown, I transferred to Marshall University. I'm a 1985 MU graduate with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. During my studies in Huntington, I worked as a news anchor/reporter for WGNT-AM and WAMX-FM, and as a news and sports personality on the Marshall student station, WMUL-FM.

My TV career began in 1984 on public television as an anchor/reporter for the student produced "MU Report." In September 1985 I was hired as an intern at the Huntington NBC affiliate, which turned into a full-time job in July 1986. Following a two-year stint as a news reporter and occasional anchor, I was given the job of sports anchor/reporter. In 1990 I was promoted to Sports Director.

I moved here to WCHS-TV in July 1997 as a news anchor/reporter. My duties also include sports and entertainment reporting.

I'm a native of the Kanawha Valley, having attended Andrew Jackson Junior High in Cross Lanes, and graduating from Nitro High School in 1981. In addition to television, over the past several years I've done news and sports for radio stations in Charleston, Huntington, Williamson, Matewan and Oak Hill.

I live in Dunbar with my brother Phil and his three children--Jason, Adam and Heather.

We have two dogs, (Maverick and Ally) which were adopted from the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter in 1998. Three rescued cats (Shaggy, Shadow and B.K.) make up the rest of the family. Remember to spay and neuter your pets! Visit the shelter if you're looking for a lifelong friend.

My hobbies include golf, movies, computers and reading. NASCAR is one of my favorite sports, and Jeff Gordon my favorite driver. In football and basketball, I cheer for BOTH the Mountaineers and the Thundering Herd.

If you'd like to check out my movie reviews, visit our sister station's website at www.wvah.com and look for the Screen Gems logo. You'll also find a list of my all-time favorite films there.

My e-mail address is at the bottom of the page. Contact me if you have a story idea, or if you just want to say hello.

Thank you for watching, and best wishes.
