I've been working as a broadcaster here in my home state of West Virginia since 1978. I started doing football halftime and end-of-game reports for WKAZ-AM, and eventually moved into the host role on a weekly public affairs program "Wildcat Corner."
After taking DJ gigs at Charleston stations WXIT-AM and WJYP-FM, I started college at WVU in the fall of 1981. Following a semester in Morgantown, I transferred to Marshall University. I'm a 1985 MU graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. During my studies in Huntington, I worked as a news anchor/reporter for WGNT-AM and WAMX-FM, and as a news and sports personality on the Marshall student station, WMUL-FM.
My TV career began in 1984 on public television as a news anchor/reporter for the student-produced "MU Report." In September 1985 I was hired as an intern at the Huntington NBC affiliate, which turned into a full-time job in July 1986. Following a two-year stint as a news reporter and occasional anchor, I was given the job of sports anchor/reporter. In 1990 I was promoted to Sports Director.
I moved here to WCHS-TV in July 1997 as a news anchor/reporter. My duties also include sports and entertainment reporting.
I'm a native of the Kanawha Valley. I attended Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School, Andrew Jackson Junior High and Nitro High School. I graduated in 1981.
In addition to television, over the past several years I've done news and sports for radio stations in Charleston, Huntington, St. Albans, Williamson, Matewan and Oak Hill.
I live in Dunbar with two dogs...Ally and Misha...and two cats...Shadow and B.K. Remember to spay and neuter your pets! Visit the shelter if you're looking for a lifelong friend.
My hobbies include golf, movies, reading and acting. I'm active in community theater, having worked with groups in Charleston and Huntington. Some of my favorite roles include Oscar Madison in "The Odd Couple", Bill Sikes in "Oliver!", John Utterson in "Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical", Sammy in "The Wedding Singer" and Lt. Sam Weinberg in "A Few Good Men."
I've been doing movie reviews for more than a decade for our sister station, WVAH-TV. To check them out, visit the website at www.wvah.com and look for the Screen Gems logo. You'll also find a list of my all-time favorite films.
My e-mail address is at the bottom of the page. Feel free to contact me.
Thank you for watching, and best wishes.
