Bryant Somerville
Hey Everyone! After being born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, I've been a West Virginia native since I was five years old, spending the first through twelfth grade in Gilmer County. Then, as a freshman at Gilmer County High School, I found my first interest in broadcasting with the school's daily broadcast, CCTV, where I tried my hand at all the different aspects from writing to anchoring. From the first time I went live in front of a green screen, I knew that this was the field I was supposed to be in. Thanks, Mrs. Rock. I attended Marshall University where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in political science. At Marshall I wrote for The Parthenon, which is the student newspaper. I also reported for the student produced broadcast, MU Report, where I was given the "Broadcast Reporter of the Year" award. Thanks professors Hollis and Swindell. During my last few months in college, I landed a part-time reporting job with Huntington's NBC affiliate. In March of 2008, it was WCHS/FOX 11 that offered me my first full-time home. I enjoy working here and reporting on the many different stories that I get to cover. When people ask me if I have fun...I always respond with a smile, saying "It's the only job where one day you're covering a murder...then the next day you're talking to a Presidential candidate." When I'm not reporting, I enjoy being lazy and spending time with my beautiful fiancee, Whitney and our daschund, Dani. I also enjoy playing the guitar, reading...and take pride in the fact I can solve a Rubik's Cube. Last but not least, my bio would not be complete without mentioning my family. They're the driving force in my life and without them I would definitely not be where I am today. You can contact Bryant at: Return to Eyewitness News Newscasters Menu |
