CORRECTS General's Father story
July 20, 2008 10:18 AM

ENGLEWOOD, Fla.
Harold Dunwoody is one, proud father.

His daughter, Ann, is in line to become the first female four-star general in the history of the United States military.

Lieutenant General Ann Dunwoody has been nominated to head up the Army's Materiel Command and is awaiting confirmation by the Senate.

Eighty-nine-year-old Harold Dunwoody is a retired one-star general and lives in Englewood, Florida. He says he's not surprised at his daughter's historic promotion and thinks coming from a military family inspired her to "join the club."

Her brother is a West Point grad. Her older sister was one of the Army's first female helicopter pilots. Her niece is an Air Force fighter pilot. And Dunwoodys have served in virtually every major American conflict from the Revolution to Iraq.

Her brother Harold Dunwoody Junior says she was always "very focused." He says, "When she sets out on something, there's no stopping her." He says, just give it to her or get out of the way.
