Bodybuilding firefighter ordered back to work
July 19, 2008 7:19 AM

BOSTON
The Boston Fire Department has ordered a firefighter to go back to work Monday, canceling his disability leave after he took part in a bodybuilding competition.

Forty-six-year-old Albert Arroyo works as a building inspector for the Fire Prevention Division and was given disability leave for a back injury.

Six weeks later, though, he reportedly competed in a bodybuilding contest. A spokesman for the fire department says it believes if he can do that, he can inspect buildings.

His lawyer says bodybuilding helps Arroyo cope with the rigors of the job and is recommending he follow his doctor's advice and not work.
