U.S. NATIONAL NEWS
from Eyewitness News Online Less rain in the forecast March 16, 2010 5:35 AM UNDATED The end could be in sight for rainy weather that's plagued the Northeastern U.S. A low pressure system lingering off the East Coast is expected to continue pushing moisture over New England and the Northeast in the form of showers. Less than a quarter of an inch of rain is forecast in most places today. Relief can't come too soon for the region. Torrential rains and high winds pounded the Northeast for a third day on Monday. The rain and accompanying wind have toppled trees, flooded roads and forced hundreds of people to evacuate their homes. At least nine people have died in storm-related accidents. Nearly a half-million people lost power at the peak of the storm in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. |
