PITTSBURGH
Investigators in suburban Pittsburgh are hoping to confirm the identity of a woman whose body was found bound with duct tape with her uterus cut open in the apartment of another woman who falsely claimed a newborn baby was her own.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office has tentatively identified the victim as Kia Johnson. The office plans to use dental records to confirm the identity.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Johnson was 18 years old and due to deliver July 30th.

Police say investigators are also trying to verify that the dead woman was the mother of a baby brought by Andrea Curry-Demus to a hospital Thursday.

Police say Curry-Demus told them she had arranged to pay a woman named Tina $1,000 for the baby. She's been arrested on charges of child endangerment and dealing in infant children.

The medical examiner says the newborn is "apparently doing well."
