Troopers were working Wednesday to find two suspects after a Campbells Creek man said he was tied up and attacked with a sword in Eastern Kanawha County.
"I knew he was going to end it. He was going to kill me," the victim said in an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News.
Recounting the moments, he said he honestly thought were his last, the victim, who asked not to be identified, showed just a fraction of the injuries he received when he said he was tied up with extension cords and assaulted with a 3 to 4-foot sword and jumper cables.
During the ordeal, he said, one of the attackers told him repeatedly that he was going to die "every moment he could."
The attack happened at a business along Campbells Creek Drive. Eyewitness News also is not identifying that business to protect the identity of the victim. He said the torture lasted for about 45 minutes before he said he was able to escape and run into the woods.
"At that point was when I grabbed the blade of the sword, because there was no other way to get out of this corner I was in," he said. "I had to get control of something."
The victim told troopers he knew his attackers and identified them as Ronald Coleman and Patricia Dilo.
State Police have obtained malicious wounding warrants for Coleman and Dilo, but said the charges could be upped to attempted murder.
"I want to see them captured soon, so I don't have to think about that all the time," the victim said. "I don't have to worry about them showing back up to finish the job."
Troopers said when they went to the scene, they found evidence of the crime, including the sword. They said blood had been cleaned with bleach and ammonia.
"You just appreciate your life a whole lot more whenever you realize you could lose it at any moment, especially when you don't expect it," the victim said.
If you have any information about the suspects, call the Quincy detachment of the State Police at 304-949-3136.
