ASHLAND, Ky. (Mamie Buoy) - Two people from Boyd County, Kentucky are behind bars accused of dealing drugs in Ashland.

On May 22nd, investigators say 36-year-old James Smith sold heroin to undercover deputies on 29th Street.

Once the transaction was complete, deputies stopped Smith's car. They say they found narcotics and money in his possession.

Smith is charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance.

As part of this investigation, deputies say they also bought Oxycodone from 34-year-old Evelyn King at an apartment on Woodland Avenue.

After she allegedly sold deputies the drug, they got a search warrant for the apartment. Inside, they say they found Oxycodone, marijuana, Xanax and a large amount of money. Deputies also say King had four children inside the home, ranging from ages nine-months-old to 14-years-old.

King is charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana and wanton endangerment.

Deputies say more arrests are pending in connection with this investigation.
