CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Bob Aaron, Jeff Morris) -- Charleston police said a suspect will face charges after an incident in which a car rammed a home on South Ruffner Road and several vehicles were damaged by a fire that broke out.

Steven Clay of Yawkey is now charged with felony destruction of property and burglary charges once he is released from the hospital, police said.

Witnesses said the suspect forced his way into the home Tuesday night and was yelling, claiming someone had stolen his laptop. After a struggle, the suspect was forced out of the home. Witnesses said he got into a SUV and rammed the home and then struck a parked SUV that was pushed into a pickup truck. At some point, the suspect's vehicle caught on fire and the fire spread to the pickup truck and to the exterior of the home.

Police said Clay fled the scene on foot along with his mother, Sharon Jones. They were apprehended a short time later. Both were sent to the hospital. Police said it does not appear Clay's mother, who was in serious condition Wednesday in a Charleston hospital, will face any charges.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin, Jeff Morris) -- Police have identified one of the people taken into custody after a car rammed a Charleston home and then the vehicle caught fire.

Charleston police said Steven Clay of Yawkey was the man who rammed a house on South Ruffner Road Tuesday night after an altercation.

Police said Clay fled the scene in a vehicle in which his mother also was riding. They were apprehended a short time later. Both suspects were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin) -- Two people are in custody after a disturbance turns into much more in Charleston.

Police say a man kicked in the door to a home on South Ruffner Road and got into a fight with whomever was inside. Police say the man then came back out of the house, and got into his car and hit the house with the car while ramming another car. Police say he rammed the house several more times and the car somehow caught fire.

Police say the man's mother was also in the car with him. They fled the scene and were apprehended a short time later. Both suspects were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say both will face multiple felony charges once they are released from the hospital.

Police have not released the suspect's names or what may have started the disturbance.

Charleston Police Criminal Investigations Detectives are on scene right now.
