NITRO, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin) -- A popular Kanawha County restaurant was ransacked and robbed, but police hope the crystal clear images from the security camera will help people recognize who the suspect is.

For almost 20 years, Maria Magana has helped her father run Rio Grande on First Avenue in Nitro.

In all of that time, she said she's never dealt with someone breaking in.

Early Thursday morning, she thinks around 3 a.m., a man was caught on surveillance video using a crowbar to pry open the back door.

"It looked like a knife, you can see how he messed it up," she said

The suspect, who obviously knew what he was looking for and where to find it, walked straight to the cash register.

"He emptied out all my trash to put all his stuff in the trash bag," she said.

Then it was to the restaurant's office.

"Everything,” she said. “He went through my drawers. He got everything."

The suspect ransacked the office, ripping apart drawers and cabinets, apparently looking for anything of value. Magana said it's disheartening to know someone would do this to her business.

"I don't know how people could do this,” Magana said. “You work so hard to get what you have, and then people just come in here and just take it?"

With the crime caught on camera, giving police a clear view of who they're looking for, Magana is hoping someone recognizes him and puts a stop to what he's doing before another business falls victim.
