CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Elizabeth Noreika) -- West Virgina American Water customers say they have another concern now following that chemical leak into the Elk River, this time it has to do with their bills.

WVAW customers were advised to flush their pipes once the "do not use ban" was lifted in their area. To offset the cost, the company said they'd give customers a credit of 1,000 gallons, equaling out to about 9 days of water usage for the average residential customer. However, as customers received their bills and realized that credit wasn't there and their bills were higher than normal, many people like Wanda Kay are upset.

"Last month it was 75 dollars and this month it is $104. 50" says Wanda about her water bill.

Laura Jordan with West Virginia American Water says: West Virginia American Water will be offering customers a credit of 1,000 gallons to offset the water used for flushing their home plumbing per the flushing directions. This equates to approximately nine days of normal water usage for the average residential customer. How and when this credit will be applied is still being determined by the company in coordination with the Public Service Commission. West Virginia American Water will communicate with its customers once the details of the adjustment implementation are determined. Until we have a meeting with the PSC staff early next week, the exact "when" and "how" is not finalized. For the time being, we have placed billing holds on the affected customers' accounts. "
