CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris, Doug Harlow) -- The burst of snow that left a mess on roads Friday morning and closed schools is behind us, but another bout of winter weather is on the way after we get a break for most of the weekend.

Sunday night heading into Monday is the next big concern in the weather picture.

Eyewitness News Meteorologist Doug Harlow said cold temperatures will greet residents Saturday morning with 6 degrees expected by dawn. Things will rebound during the day when the high will jump to 45.

On Sunday, the temperature will push to 50 degrees or higher, but an arctic blast Sunday night will rapidly change things from rain to snow. Harlow said similar snow accumulations to this past event are expected with 2 to 3 inches in most spots, meaning a very icy start to the week on Monday.

The operative word Monday is cold – with temperatures starting in the teens and falling into the single digits in the afternoon as the snow showers end. By Monday night, Harlow said, the temperature will drop below zero with -5 in the valleys and -15 in the mountains. Throw in some winds of 10-15 mph, and valley wind chills will be in the -15 to -25 range. Meanwhile, the wind chills in the mountains could fall to -30 to -40.
