HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Dan Matics) -- It was most certainly not how one mother wanted to ring in the new year.

She spoke out Friday night, pleading that police safely find her daughter who disappeared on Christmas Eve.

The holidays were anything but happy for Melissa Sikora. She was getting Christmas Eve dinner ready when her daughter, Diane Bess, 20, went shopping and never returned.

Bess was last seen leaving her home, where she lives with her mother, on Main Street in the Guyandotte neighborhood of Huntington.

Sikora said it is unlike her daughter to go completely off the radar. Her friends haven't seen any signs of her recently, either, and they're all very worried.

“It's like I’m a zombie walking around,” Sikora said. “I can see, but I cant. It's just hard. I want to fall apart, but I’ve got to find my child!"

Bess is described as a light-skinned black woman and is 5 feet, 2 inches tall. She weighs about 120 pounds and has hazel eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Huntington police.
