Lincoln Voters Choose To Extend Excess Levy

With all returns counted, voters overwhelmingly chose Saturday to extend the excess levy in Lincoln county.

1153 "yes" votes (63.56 percent) were cast, to 661 "no" votes (36.44 percent).

While the school levy in Lincoln County has been around for more than 60 years, it still draws mixed feelings.

The school board asked voters Saturday to renew the 3.5 million dollar levy.

It helps fund various educational programs throughout the county such as 4-H programs, school and county libraries, and of course, instructional equipment and technology.

But it's higher taxes that some said is too much.

Early voting started Nov. 2 and, while there may have been some people voting early, not too many people were out at the polls on Saturday.




With all returns counted, voters overwhelmingly chose Saturday to extend the excess levy in Lincoln county.

According to the Lincoln Journal, 1153 "yes" votes (63.56 percent) had been counted to 661 "no" votes (36.44 percent).




With 11 precincts, early votes and absentees counted, votes to extend the excess levy in Lincoln county were leading in early returns Saturday.

According to the Lincoln Journal, 1039 "yes" votes had been counted to 520 "no" votes.

Voters in Lincoln County went to the polls Saturday to decide on extending an excess levy that's been in place for more than 60 years.

The school board asked voters to renew the $3.5 million levy.

It helps fund various educational programs throughout the county, such as 4-H programs, school and county libraries and instructional equipment and technology.

Polls closed at 7:30 p.m.
