A Fayette County man has been arrested on attempted murder and robbery charges in connection with a shooting and robbery in Hernshaw, court documents said.

Zachariah N. Woodson, 26, of Boomer was arrested on charges related to a Wednesday home invasion on Lens Creek Road in Hernshaw in which Roy Roe Jr. was shot in the head, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

State Police said Roe told officers he heard a knock at his residence and when he opened his back door, he saw three males, two wearing masks and one with nothing covering his face. While one of the suspects restrained the victim, the two others searched the residence and demanded to know where his money was located. The suspects took $600 from a safe in his bedroom, and they entered the kitchen and stood around the victim. He told officers the man with no mask then shot him in the head. The suspects fled the scene, and the victim said he stumbled to the phone and called 911.

During the investigation, Woodson was identified as a suspect and Roe picked him out of a photographic lineup that was showed to the victim at Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital, the complaint said. Roe remains at the hospital, where he has been listed in serious condition.

Woodson was being held at Southwestern Regional Jail with bond set at $150,000.
