More construction is in the works at Yeager Airport.
The construction committee of the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority held a meeting Thursday about the plan.
The committee says the ridge that stretches from Yeager to the Northgate business gate is too high for airplanes to legally fly out above it at maximum capacity, so the ridge will be lowered 110 feet.
Yeager airport director Rick Atkinson said they are communicating with neighbors who live in the area about the project.
“The contractor, the airport, and the engineering group are committed to minimizing the impacts on the residents and doing the project as quickly as we can," he said.
The project is expected to cost more than $13 million.
