The Greater Huntington Parks and Recreation has started the process of making all of its parks Wi-Fi hotspots.
Harris Riverfront Park and parts of Ritter Park are now Internet accessible, Executive Director of Parks and Recreation Kevin Brady said. The rest of Ritter Park should have Wi-Fi capabilities later this week.
"We want people to come out to the parks, and we know people sometimes can't pull away from their laptops. So we encourage people to bring their electronics and let the kids play at the park," Brady said.
Brady said they are working with Kindred Connect to provide high-speed connection at 50 megabytes per second. Park-goers can connect the "GHPRD Pub Access" network on their electronic devices.
The hope is to have Wi-Fi accessibility at all Huntington parks.
