Federal prosecutors said a Mingo County commissioner charged with extortion has agreed to plead guilty.
Prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Charleston requesting a plea hearing for Dave Baisden.
Judge John Copenhaver didn't immediately set a hearing date. Baisden's trial had been scheduled for Oct. 21.
The 66-year-old Baisden is accused of trying to buy tires for his personal vehicle at a government discount, then terminating the county's contract with Appalachian Tire when it refused to cooperate.
The Mingo County Commission has removed Baisden as the county's purchasing agent. He has not resigned as a commissioner.
The plea hearing request was first reported by The Charleston Gazette.

The U.S. Attorney's Office has filed a motion asking that a guilty plea hearing be set for a Mingo County commissioner facing federal extortion charges.
On Wednesday, prosecutors filed a motion to schedule a plea hearing in U.S. District Court for Mingo County Commissioner David Baisden. Baisden had pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in August to extortion for allegedly misusing his office to try to buy tires from a county supplier at a discount.
His trial had been set for Oct. 21, and he remains free on a $10,000 bond.
Baisden said he has no plans to step down as county commissioner. He no longer is the county's purchasing agent.
