A piece of history is docked in Charleston and people have a chance to see if up close and personal.
The LST 325 arrived in the capital city on Thursday. On Friday, people were allowed to tour the ship.
When people first enter the ship they walk into the place where soldiers got tanks, vehicles and supplies ready so they could directly attack enemy beaches.
People can also see the main and mass decks, gallery, the stern of the ship where a lot of the weapons are held, wheel house, officers' quarters and captain's cabin.
When the ship took part in the Battle of Normandy it carried 59 vehicles, 31 officers and a total of 408 enlisted men. On the tour people can see where those men got to sleep. Their bunks are lined up four high on both sides of a very tight hallway.
Another feature of the tour is a replica of the LST 325 built entirely out of LEGOs.
The ship will be in Charleston until Tuesday, Sept. 3. Tours go from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6-17 and $20 for a family of four.
