Friday is the last chance to catch some free music this season at the Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee summer concert series.
Wrapping up the entertainment for the series this season at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston will be headliner Acoustic Syndicate, a rock/folk/bluegrass band from North Carolina, and opening act Comparsa, an acoustic world beat ensemble.
The headliner will take the stage about 7:45 p.m. Formed in 1992, Acoustic Syndicate has toured nationally in the United States, including appearances at Farm Aid and the Bonnaroo festival.
Meanwhile, opening act Comparsa will get the music started about 6:30 p.m. The band’s performances include covers, originals and percussion jams, everything from salsa and merengue to gypsy styles, Bossa Nova and Venezuelan folk music.
Live on the Levee is an outdoor concert series presented by the city of Charleston and is made possible by sponsorship and private donations.
Profits from a 50/50 raffle are drawn to help raise money for a group of charities supported by the event. This year’s charities are Covenant House, the Religious Coalition for Community Renewal, the YWCA of Charleston, the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center and Daymark.
