People were enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables in Putnam County Saturday.
The Putnam County Farmers' Market hosted an Eat Healthy Event.
Organizers encouraged adults and kids to get outdoors, eat healthy, and have fun. Families were able to enjoy fresh foods and got a cooking lesson, all for free.
Farmer's Market President Kaitlyn Campbell said there is nothing better than market-fresh food.
“They either have picked it last night, or they got up early this morning and picked everything,” he said. “You're not going to get anything fresher than what you do at a farmers’ market. People don't realize - stuff in the grocery store, it could have been there for weeks. You don’t know how long it's been there. You don't know what they've done to it or what's been put on it. It's nice that people can come here and ask what's been on the produce, when it was picked and how long it will last in the fridge. A lot of people appreciate that.”
Families also enjoyed live music and a variety of produce, baked goods, jewelry and eggs, all for up for sale.
