Rainelle, Greenbrier County , West Virginia
Police have arrested a man they said was involved in a Greenbrier County arson earlier this week.
Joseph Keith Martin, 28, of Meadow Bluff was arrested late Tuesday, Mark Lambert with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office said. He was charged with first-degree arson.
Martin admitted to pouring gasoline from a weed eater Tuesday on the front porch of a home located at 413 Sixth St. in Rainelle, then lighting it with a cigarette lighter, according to the criminal complaint. Martin told police that he was upset that he had been asked to leave the residence that he had been visiting.
Martin was being held at the Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Arson is suspected in a fire that heavily damaged a home in Greenbrier County, the Rainelle Volunteer Fire Department said.
The fire occurred about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday on Sixth Street in Rainelle. No one was injured.
The state fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate the blaze.
The Rainelle, Rupert and Quinwood volunteer fire departments responded. The Rainelle Police Department, West Virginia State Police and Quinwood ambulance service also assisted.
